World Breast Cancer Day is held every 19 October. It aims to raise awareness of prevention and the importance of early detection.
Today is World Breast Cancer Day. At the Universidad Europea of Valencia we underline the importance of prevention through health programmes, screening, and the adoption of healthy lifestyle habits. This includes following a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables, limiting alcohol and tobacco consumption and, of course, including physical exercise or activity in our daily routines.
Dr. J. Javier González Cervantes, one of the Health Science experts at the Universidad Europea of Valencia, sought to encourage participation, saying, “I urge all women to undergo breast cancer screening due to their importance in early detection and subsequent increased survival rates”. “Our academic institution underscores the importance of research in improving the diagnosis and treatment of this pathology”.
According to the latest Report by the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM, 2022), the estimated number of new breast cancer cases in Spain for 2022 is 34,750. This is a chronic illness which significantly impacts quality of life and its prevalence highlights the need for integral care for its patients and their families. The UEV continues to share the importance of ongoing research, because behind every figure, there is a human being.
