Director of the School of Architecture, Engineering, and Design

Dear students and colleagues,

As the popular saying goes, if you want to go quickly, you should go alone, but if you want to go far, you should go with company. As the challenges we face become more ambitious, it becomes all the more important to be careful in choosing our travel companions. That’s why I’m so proud and joyful to become a part of Universidad Europea de Madrid’s prestigious School of Architecture, Engineering, and Design. Combining all our knowledge and efforts will allow us to successfully take on even the most challenging projects. The problems facing society today are evolving more rapidly than ever before, and are reaching unseen levels of complexity. At the same time, technology is morphing and maturing at breakneck speed, impacting and redefining our world. What was once unimaginable is now a reality. Our challenge is to connect academia with industry, ensuring that our initiatives and developments are aligned with the changing needs of society and the world of work.

Universidad Europea de Madrid’s mission is to give our students a holistic education, training leaders and professionals prepared to meet the demands of a global world. In doing so, we hope our graduates go on to add value to their professional worlds and contribute to social progress through their entrepreneurial spirit and ethical commitment. As a part of this, the University seeks to create and pass on knowledge through applied research, contributing to progress while simultaneously remaining at the forefront of intellectual and technical development. Universidad Europea de Madrid’s School of Architecture, Engineering, and Design is firmly committed to its mission of training the professionals of the future by combining academic excellence with effective institutional management. This allows us to successfully meet even the most demanding expectations, whether in the eyes of our students or our stakeholders as a whole.

Our desire is for the School to serve as a centre of excellence for our top-level teaching, based on hands-on experience and supported by research. Our goal is to develop knowledge that is relevant and useful for problem solving, both in companies and in society as a whole. We have to work in such a way that allows everybody to feel deep pride in belonging to the School, enabling it to act as a source of inspiration for others to do bigger and better things.

Best wishes,

Alberto Sols

                                      • Be internationally recognised for its academic excellence in project-based training which reflects the needs of society and is supported by applied research, thus achieving a high level of student satisfaction.
                                      • Consolidate learning outside the classroom as an authentic extension of formal teaching methods, accelerating students’ development and professional skills, and as a result, their employability.
                                      • Provide a faculty of top-level professors within each academic field, with a high level of English. This includes an ample number of accredited professors with doctorates and an acknowledged record of research.
                                      • Achieve all of the above while meeting the financial expectations of our shareholders. This is ensured by excellent management.
