The COAM and the COAM Architecture Foundation invited Professor Tasos Tanoulas, restoring architect of the Acropolis of Athens, winner of the Europa Nostra Award, to hold a meeting with university students and professors, including students from the STEAM School of Universidad Europea.
Universidad Europea students participated in a meeting with esteemed arctitect, Professor Tanos Tanoulas. The students - from the STEAM faculty, were joined by students from three other institutions - Polytechnic of Madrid, Alcalá and San Pablo CEU. Professor Tanoulas is the architect who restored the Acropolis of Athens and winner of the Europa Nostra award. The talk was possible thanks to the COAM Foundation, whose director is Miguel Lasso de la Vega, a professor at Universidad Europea, and taking advantage of Professor Tanoulas' visit to Madrid, organised by the Hispania Nostra Association and the Fundación Ortega-Marañon.
Tasos Tanoulas is the architect who oversaw the restoration of the Acropolis of Athens and a Europa Nostra Award winner. He has a Master's degree in Conservation of the Built Environment from the Institute of Advanced Architectural Studies of the University of York and a PhD from the University of Athens. In addition, he is a member of the Archaeological Institute of Germany and the Archaeological Institute of America, as well as numerous committees for the restoration of monuments and has several publications in this regard.
The students were able to pose different questions to the eminent professor on intervention in historic buildings and centres, maintaining a very lively and interesting dialogue on contemporary restoration practice.
