They achieved victory with the presentation of a demo of the video game "Root of Love", based on environmental sustainability.
Four students on the double degree in Animation and Videogame Design at Universidad Europea, Íñigo Alberola López, Celia García-Tola González, Carlos Sánchez Renedo, and Laura Albentosa Millora, have been awarded first place in the prestigious hackSTEM championship with their project “Root of Love”.
This is the third time that the event has been held, the objective of which has been to promote STEM vocations (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) that help improve the sustainability of the planet.
The event has been divided into two activities: a masterclass with which to improve their theoretical notions with the participation of industry experts, and a hackathon, which was the event in which the students of the University competed.
The final test consisted of the development of a digital tool or a video game. As a final project, the students presented a demo of the game, along with a market study and a production plan indicating the pieces and their costs. The evaluation criteria were: resolution of the challenge, usability, creativity and design, teamwork and innovation.
