The Universidad Europea ASISA– Chair presents the Award for the Best 2016/2017 Transcript and Research Grants

On December 4, the ASISA-Universidad Europea Chair presented the Award for the Best Transcript for the 2016/2017 academic year and announced the winners of its Research Grants. These recognitions were announced during the ‘Healthcare Management Classroom’ at the Villaviciosa de Odón Campus. This year’s event included the participation of Guillermo Dorronsoro, Dean of the Deusto Business School and Executive Vice President of the IK4 alliance of technology centers, who offered a lecture entitled “Health system management in light of the social and economic challenges of the 21st century.”

Students Alejandro Martínez Biedma and Sergio Rubio Hervás won the awards that recognize their academic careers with a 7,000 euro grant to study a Master’s Degree at the Universidad Europea. And a second prize worth 3,500 euros was awarded to Eva Iglesias García to spend a period of study abroad. As for the 6,000 euros Research Grants to develop a research project, the winners were researchers Manuel Martínez-Selles, from the Universidad Europea, for his Prospective Study on Fragility in Cardiac Transplants, and Javier Angulo Cuesta, from Getafe Hospital for his Clinical Research on searching for new molecular markers for the prognosis and response to bladder cancer treatment.

The event was chaired by Enrique de Porres Ortiz de Urbina, CEO of ASISA, Conrado Briceño, President of the Universidad Europea, and Sergio Calvo, Vice Rector of the Universidad Europea. The winners of last year’s research grants also presented their projects. During his speech, ASISA CEO Enrique de Porres Ortiz de Urbina highlighted “the work carried out by the Universidad Europea ASISA– Chair since 2006, supporting the work of the most outstanding health science students and offering them the economic resources necessary to continue their education.” Along these same lines, during his speech Vice Rector for Teaching and Research Support at the Universidad Europea, Sergio Calvo, congratulated the winners and insisted that excellence in research is part of the university’s commitment to society insofar as we conduct our research to generate transferable knowledge and thus contribute to social development and progress.”
