The White Week 2018 commenced on Monday the 7th, the yearly event directed at the Students of the Real Madrid Graduate School – Universidad Europea.
Emilio Butragueño, the Real Madrid C.F. Director of Institutional Relations and General Manager of Real Madrid Graduate School - Universidad Europea was in charge of opening the event in the Honour box seat at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
Students from the different master were able to enjoy the presence of Sergio Llull, Professional basketball player for Real Madrid of the ACB League who was recently re-joined the team after being injured for over eight and a half months . Llull talked about the spirit of overcoming as the engine of life, something that he has been able to experience himself. He spoke as a professional basketball player but also at a personal level. He answered several questions asked by the students.
There were also other participants during the day such as Toni Nadal, the former Coach of tennis player Rafael Nadal, who spoke about the importance of values in professional sports, as well as Zvonimir Boban, Deputy Secretary who focused his speech on the importance of Football as a universal language.
Our students were able to ask some questions to each of the speakers and also to learn from these important professionals of the sports world.
This was just the first day of a week that will see the attendance of high profile people from the sports world, such as Pablo Laso, Head coach of the first basketball team and Alberto Herreros, Technical Director for the Real Madrid Basketball team who will talk about the Excellence as a Challenge. Other speakers at the White Week will be Ruth Beitia, Olympic Champion in Río 2016 and 20 times winner of the women's high jump and Álvaro Arbeloa, amongst many more.
The aim of the White Week is to educate the students in 5 main values: entrepreneurialism, team work, integrity, leadership and excellence. Within the over 10 years of history that the School has, the Real Madrid Graduate School – Universidad Europea has demonstrated that sports management is not only something to be done by elite athletes, as there are so many different profiles linked with this activity; something instantly noticeable within the School’s classrooms, where over 5,000 students have obtained a master degree since their first opening back in 2006. The main objective of the school is to educate the students in order for them to reach the historical values taught at Real Madrid.
