More than 200 Graduation Projects were submitted to the 4th edition of the Dr Pedro Guillén-Universidad Europea Research Prize. The winner was student Michelle Pricoco with her project “Effectiveness of dry needling the masseter muscle surface associated with temporomandibular joint distraction to improve pain, mouth opening and reduce tinnitus in patients with temporomandibular pain and unilateral tinnitus.” This year’s winner will receive a cash prize and a 4-month internship in the Physical Therapy service of CEMTRO, and will be able to attend the symposia held by the clinic each year.
Along with the winning project, this year’s finalists included students Carlos Ruíz Soteras with the project “Effectiveness of EPTE treatment in combination with a rehabilitation protocol for acute muscle strain in the hamstrings at a moderate level in soccer players in the Spanish second division B,” and José Manuel Rubio Pablos with the project “Neuromeningeal mobilization vs eccentric exercise for chronic ankle sprain.”
The submitted projects were evaluated by a panel of experts including Head of the Orthopedic Surgery Service of CEMTRO Clinic Dr Pedro Guillén, Head of the Physical Therapy Service of CEMTRO Clinic Fernando García, Coordinator of the Universidad Europea Graduation Project class Dr David Rodríguez, and Coordinator of the Doctor's Degree at Universidad Europea’s Center of Excellence for Research in Health and Life Sciences Dr. Miguel Ángel Sánchez.
