The first skills guide for clinical internships in Health Sciences is published

13 may 2016

On May 4 the Editorial Médica Panamericana and the Tejerina Foundation presented the book “Competencias en las Prácticas Clínicas en Ciencias de la Salud” (Skills for Clinical Internships in Health Sciences), a project that saw the participation of 38 expert professionals from academia, health care and administration of Health Science degree programs.  Specifically, the coordinators of this first manual of psycho-pedagogical strategies and resources are Universidad Europea professors Maria José Terrón, Margarita Rubio and Asunción Hernando.

The launch event was held at the Tejerina Foundation and consisted of a round table at which representatives from professional groups in the Autonomous Community of Madrid (Nursing, Physical Therapy, Medicine, Dentistry, and Psychology) shared their associations' outlook on the importance of proper training and skills assessment.

The genesis of this project, the first of its kind, arose from the need to be able to perform quality skills assessments in the various medical interventions performed by students in the real world of health care. The goal is for it to become an essential “road map” for the different stakeholders in Health Sciences education and training.
