Instalaciones Hospital Simulado Universidad Europea de Madrid

Simulated Hospital

The Simulated Hospital’s facilities allow health professionals to undergo clinical training using simulation methodology led by accredited instructors.

Experiential learning is the foundation of Universidad Europea’s academic model and is based on one of its main pillars: the simulated environment. The Simulated Hospital plays a fundamental role, as its facilities allow students to virtually experience the real-life environment in a safe and controlled way. The space contains all the necessary elements to recreate the realistic atmosphere of a health centre, with the most advanced infrastructure technology and an audiovisual format coming together in an academic system that is accessible to both professors and students. It is a centre for clinical training, research and innovation in teaching. The patients that are seen here are standardised patients, virtual patients or actors, as well as patients from simulators with differing levels of complexity.

800

800m2 of space

The Simulated Hospital is located on the ground floor of Building A of the Villaviciosa de Odón Campus and has an area of about 800 m2.

4

Consultations and simulation rooms

It has four offices with a table and two chairs, a stretcher, a Multiple Diagnostic Unit, an ultrasound machine, a height rod and scales for both adults and children, and four complex simulation rooms.

36

Training stations

The Task Training room has 36 skill training stations.

40

40m2 operating room

In addition to the teaching space of the hospital itself, we have a 40m2 operating room.

The Simulated Hospital is located on the ground floor of Building A at the Villaviciosa de Odón Campus. It has an area of around 800m2 and is laid out as follows:

  • Reception
  • Storage Room
  • Four Consultation Rooms: each equipped with a table and two chairs, a sink, stretcher, multi-diagnostic unit, ultrasound machine, and height and weight scales for both adults and children
  • Simulation Support Room
  • Hospital Pharmacy: with a negative pressure biosafety cabinet, a safe for narcotic drugs, and a medicine repackaging machine integrated into the single-dose dispensing system
  • Task Training Room with 36 skill training stations
  • Hospitalisation Room with eight beds
  • Four Complex Simulation Rooms

In addition to the hospital’s teaching space, there are adjacent rooms relating to the running of the simulation:

  • A Mobile ICU Ambulance: with all the necessary equipment including a portable ventilator
  • Room A048 or the Operating Theatre: a 40m2 room with multiple surgical handwashing sinks
  • The Community Pharmacy: a room of 20m2 for drug dispensing and patient care, as well as a repository for medication preparation and compounding

At the Simulated Hospital, we use simulators with differing levels of complexity to carry out both practical skill training and complex scenario management practice. In addition, students can train with virtual clinical reasoning simulators, haptic technology and clinical simulation systems in a digital environment with the most innovative technology.

The clinical training and research carried out in the Simulated Hospital is led by members of all healthcare degrees. The following degrees carry out clinical simulation activities at the Simulated Hospital:
