Universidad Europea celebrates the 3rd edition of “Teddy Bear Hospital” with high levels of participation

On February 25 and March 4, the novel Simulated Hospital held the 3rd edition of the Teddy Bear Hospital, an initiative launched by the Student Association and Clinical Department at the Universidad Europea. The Teddy Bear Hospital was visited by various groups of children aged between 3 and 6 who became “doctors for a day”.

The goal was to allow children to discover the job of a doctor with various activities with children as the stars. The Teddy Bear Hospital allowed the children to understand the job of health care professionals, helping them lose the fear that they sometimes feel when visiting a doctor’s office. According to José María Alonso, president of the Medical Student Association, “the goal is for the little doctors, through their teddy bears, to come into contact with the medical profession and dispel the fears that doctors sometimes cause them”.

During the two sessions, the little doctors discovered some of the basic procedures of doctors such as cardiac auscultation, bandaging, or washing hands and brushing teeth. Each child has their own patient, a teddy bear, so they could cure their injuries and learn about the food pyramid and the organs of the human body. “The most important new feature this year was to hold the event at the new Simulated Hospital recently inaugurated by the Universidad Europea, which is highly stimulating for all students”, highlighted Octavio Corral, director of the Medical School Clinical Department.
