In November, the School of Biomedical and Health Sciences welcomed two Dentistry professors from the Latin University of Costa Rica, a member of the Laureate International Universities network, to strengthen the links between the two institutions and enhance scientific research.
The professors from the Latin University of Costa Rica, Dr. Castro and Dr. Del Valle, visited the Dentistry Department in Madrid, where they were able to see how Universidad Europea students work with their respective patients, the methods used by teaching staff, and the technology applied in training students at the Universidad Europea.
The Universidad Europea dentistry students benefited from the visit of the professors from the Latin University of Costa Rica with informative sessions on Buccofacial Medical and Surgical Pathology. Teaching staff also gained new expertise on fundamental aspects of oral cancer during the lectures given by Dr. Castro and Dr. Del Valle.
During their visit, Dr. Julio Acero Sanz, head of the Maxillofacial Surgery Service at Hospital Quirón and Hospital Ramón y Cajal, took a leading role in exchanging impressions and discussing diagnostic tests, comparing clinical diagnoses, and reviewing subsequent surgery in the hospital. The exchanges of professors from different universities in the Laureate network are intended to improve the quality of teaching and raise the professional level of students’ education.
