Laureate International Universities has called the 2016 edition of the James McGuire Global Business Plan Competition. The Laureate network initiative invites Universidad Europea Degree and Graduate Degree students to take part in developing entrepreneurial projects. Since the James McGuire competition was created in 2007 by the Chairman and CEO of Laureate Education, Douglas Becker, a total of 20 student projects have been recognized worldwide.
The competition will involve a local preliminary selection phase at the Universidad Europea, through which the two best business projects are chosen. The selected project will be evaluated by a Laureate Network Global Selection Committee to choose a total of four finalist Degree and Graduate Degree teams for the global competition. The finalists and winners will be advised by Laureate partners, professors, entrepreneurs and other students throughout the competition processes to prepare their final presentation.
The competition will award the two winning projects an entrepreneurial grant of $25,000, and a total of $5,000 for the finalists. It will also provide a $15,000 “Support Fund” available to winners and finalists throughout the competition to attend international conferences, receive consultancy services and attend meetings with investors.
Universidad Europea teams interested in taking part must fill in the registration form and submit all the documentation needed for the local assessment before February 20, 2017 at the following address: carrerasprofesionales@universidadeuropea.es.
The deadline for submitting applications will end on March 1, 2017 and the four finalist teams will be announced on May 3, 2017 so they can travel to the Laureate Leadership Summit 2017. For more information, the competition terms and conditions are available here.
